A New Semester, A New Journey in Negotiation
I’m happy to share that IIUM has reappointed me to continue lecturing at the Department of Communication, KIRKHS. This semester, I’ll teach Essentials of Negotiation to final-year students—a course that is not just about striking deals but about understanding human interaction, persuasion and finding common ground in any situation.
We kicked off our first class yesterday, and I must say, I was genuinely impressed by the level of confidence and enthusiasm in the room. These students are on the verge of stepping into the professional world, with their internships just around the corner, and I can already see their potential to thrive in the field. Their eagerness to learn and sharp perspectives on negotiation scenarios make me even more excited for the weeks ahead.
One of the key messages I aim to instill in this class is that negotiation is more than just a business skill—it’s a life skill. Whether they are navigating job offers, managing workplace relationships, or even handling everyday conversations, mastering negotiation techniques will empower them to become effective communicators and problem-solvers.
As we dive deeper into this subject, I look forward to exchanging insights, sharing real-world case studies, and equipping them with strategies that will be valuable beyond the classroom. I do not doubt that this group will leave a lasting mark in their respective careers, and I can’t wait to witness their growth.
