The 6th KL International PR Conference (KLIP6)

On June 6, 2024, I had the pleasure of attending the 6th KL International PR Conference (KLIP) at the Grand Hyatt in Kuala Lumpur. One of the highlights of the event was learning about the successful enactment of the PR Act in Zambia. The Institute of Public Relations Zambia played a crucial role in advocating for this legislation, which has significantly elevated the PR profession in their country.

In Malaysia, the Institute of Public Relations Malaysia (IPRM) has been striving towards a similar goal for many years. Unfortunately, due to strong resistance from certain sectors, the initiative has stalled. Given the potential long-term benefits for our profession, perhaps it’s time to reignite this effort.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this matter. Do you think it’s time for Malaysia to revisit the idea of a PR Act?
